The Client: Young Epilepsy UK
The Brief: To create a brand Tone of Voice for new digital platform ‘The Channel’
The Challenge/what they needed: Medical jargon and language can be intimidating for Young People with Epilepsy. The charity was launching a dedicated channel for young people by young people that needed to speak their language and tell things like it really is. To talk about sex, drugs and socialising when living with epilepsy.
How I helped: Held a ToV workshop with key stakeholders to develop the tone that would suit the platform best. From this I created sample tones and guidelines for the marketing team to use for every aspect of their comms for the Channel. Following the workshop, I supported the Marketing and Digital teams writing:
- Social media campaign posts for Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
- Articles for the Channel on a range of topics from sex to seizures
- And ran a blogging workshop and provided coaching and mentoring to young reps writing for the charity.
The result: https://thechannel.org.uk/
Testimonial:
“I’ve worked with Cat on creating content for a new digital project. She ran a tone of voice workshop which was great and allowed us to have space to think about how we wanted to say things, and opened our eyes to how many different ways of saying things there were. Cat also created a lot of content for us on a super tight turnaround and was always on hand to answer questions, and I really appreciated her ability to juggles so many different requests coming to her all-in-one go. It has been a real pleasure working with Cat and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to others who needed copywriting skills and support with finding your own unique tone of voice.”
