Tone of Voice Tuesday – Hoxton Street Monster Supplies
I wanted to save this one for Halloween, but to be honest I can’t wait that long! This week’s #toneofvoicetuesday belongs to Hoxton Steet Monster Supplies…and it’s one of my favourites! Purveyors of the gruesome and grotesque and possibly the only place on the planet that stocks sugar dusted bogies (forget PRIME, this is what the kids really want!). And its tone’s as unique as its products…because it’s also a fantastical shopfront for The Ministry of Stories, a creative writing and mentoring charity for ‘young humans’.
Have a browse around their site and you’ll see subtle surprises in the small print, like this, that make you smile:
We are tragically unable to accept beans (magic or otherwise), and no longer accept human sacrifice.
Then there’s the packaging…far too inspired to ever end up in the recycling. Take a look at these delights…Cubed Earwax, Zombie Mints and Werewolf biscuits:
Caution: May contain small hairs, if you’re lucky
I love it!
If you like what you see, sign up to their newsletter, visit their site or pop by in person at 159 Hoxton St, London N1 6PJ …but be quick for Halloween – they sell out fast.
*If you’re new here… I’ve decided to dedicate a day of the week to some of the best tone of voice I’ve spotted out in the wild. These aren’t necessarily tones I’ve written, just ones I admire from a distance and that brighten my day.
